Derek Herincx is a multifaceted professional who wears many hats as a Pilot, Musician, and Data Engineer at Flock Safety. He possesses an entrepreneurial spirit and is passionate about bridging the gap between business people and data-driven folks. Derek's journey began with a two-year stint at Gallup, where he became known as the "dashboard, visualization" guy. Initially, he resisted this label, but it led him down a rabbit-hole towards API development, ReactJS, Javascript, data workflow management libraries, and more. Derek's passion lies in bringing his entrepreneurial drive and experience to learn new technologies and implementing them in group settings. He loves to learn and see other people's work on Github and learn how to build from what others have cemented before him. Currently, he is looking for a new opportunity to grow and learn. Derek has worked as a Senior Data Engineer at Excella, where he developed custom Airflow plugins that ingested over 152 different file types across an S3 data lake into a Postgres database. He has also worked as a Data Engineer at Gallup, where he utilized skills/tools such as Bash, PostgreSQL, Python, R, Javascript (ReactJS), HTML/CSS. Derek has a Master of Science in Business Analytics from Michigan State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Management from California State University, Fullerton. He also completed one year of Aeronautical Science with Flight Option from Florida Institute of Technology.
